Course Description
The grid-connect skill set offered by Volt Edge has been designed for licensed electricians who want to obtain accreditation from the Clean Energy Council (CEC).
This will enable them to access incentives offered by the Federal Government for solar panel installations.
The course on offer meets the requirements of the regulating body, the Clean Energy Council, for accreditation.

In light of the popularity in solar generated-energy, Volt Edge has created this course to meet the demand in the market for electricians able to design and install grid connected photovoltaic systems. As a result, we aim to install our students with the expert knowledge and skills to efficiently and confidently get the job done. To do so, this course covers providing known solutions to predictable problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems operated at ELV and LV; the installation, adjustment and set-up of photovoltaic power systems and connecting to a supply grid inverter; the design of grid connected photovoltaic power supply systems and their installation.

The lessons encompass working safely, problem solving procedures, including the use of basic voltage, current and resistance measuring devices, providing known solutions to predictable circuit problems; working safely and to installation standards, matching components with that specified for a given location, placing and securing system components accurately, making required circuit connections and completing the necessary installation documentation; and following design briefs, incorporating schemes for protection of persons and property from dangers of system malfunction, ensuring other safety and performance standards and functional requirements are meet and documenting design calculations and criteria.

Units of Competencies
The successful achievement of this course requires you to complete the 3 elective units from the list below. These units form part of:
UEE62211 – Advanced Diploma of Electrical – Engineering.
UEE42011 – Certificate IV in Electrical – Photovoltaic systems.

This course will deliver the three units of competency required by the Clean Energy Council for grid-connect accreditation for electricians.
UEENEEK125A – Solve basic problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems.
UEENEEK148A – Install, configure and commission LV grid connected photovoltaic power systems.
UEENEEK135A – Design grid connected photovoltaic power systems.

Students must be a qualified Electrician or Electrical Mechanic.

Upon completion you will be able to apply for accreditation with the Clean Energy Council. Accreditation allows you to:
Use the Clean Energy Council logo on your advertising.
Create STC’s for your customers.
Access feed-in tariffs offered by supply authorities.
Make installation costs lower for your customers.
Follow a recognised code for installation.
Access a restricted technical support website run by CEC.
